THE IMPORTANCE OF KEYWORDS
1. Don’t optimise the wrong keywords

2. you need to understand the importance of keywords

3. get the right keywords

4. use a keyword tool – here is a free one:

Keyword Tool

5. use this tool in several ways: first… type in a category ‘keyword’ and you’ll receive between 20 to 100 other relevant keywords

6. secondly… type in a website that ranks well and see what keywords they use…

7. third… there is a facility on this page to download all keyword suggestions as a text file… use it and file safely

8. be aware that when anyone types a request into a search engine it includes keywords

9. these keywords need to be gathered and included upon your web page or website

10. don’t use the keyword or keyword phrase more than 6 times on any one webpage, otherwise this could be seen as keyword spamming

11. Find out what other websites use for their keywords… right click in an empty space on the web page and click ‘view source’; and view their meta tags listed between <head> and </head> at the very top of the page.

12. Don’t be eager to optimise your main keywords first. Concentrate on minor keywords and see quick results and in doing this you’ll understand the procedure better.

13. Attempting to work on your major keywords first could be costly. If you misunderstand a procedure and you make an error some search engines could penalise your efforts and it could damage how frequent the search engine return.

14. Keywords are king. Now in most search engines - as you type in 'search box' suggestions are prompted. These are search terms that are already popular. Take a note of these and add them to your website. Or better still make a web page with that as both the file extension and page title.

15. Be precise about your keywords! If you are a ‘marketing company’ and are selling your skills on the internet… Don’t use the keywords ‘internet marketing’; be more specific… instead of using one word such as internet marketing which will be fiercely fought over, create sub headings… such as: corporate marketing on the internet, professional marketing on a budget…

16. If you take that process one step further… Imagine being a casual browser on the internet and by chance you did want a corporate internet marketer, and came across an advert for internet marketing. You may wonder… and then press… and … find nothing that you really want… blah!... not the right type of company for you. Precise wording guarantees a more interested surfer and more targeted and likely to buy. promotion.

17. Include ‘long tail’ keyword phrases on your webpage or promotion. If you are a travel company you should never use just ‘London’; but use for example: ‘5 Star Luxury Hotel in the Heart of London’.

18. If your website site is new most search engines do not give it value, especially for fiercely targeted keywords. Target sub categories first, then when your site has more credibility, start chasing the more popular words.

19. Type any keyword into Google and as you scroll down the listings you’ll find sub category headings shouting out at you. Type in ‘weight loss’ for example and within 20 listings you’ll find ‘weight loss plan’. This is how you find your own 'long tail keywords'.

# Use anchor text on links that point to your page with keywords you are targeting (both internal and external sites).
# Along the same lines as the last tip, if you have images that click to pages, use the ALT parameter within the <IMG> tag, and include whatever keywords you are targeting.
# Generally, use common sense and stay away from trying to trick search engines (cloaking tricks for example). It can get your site penalized or even banned from the search engines.

# One of the most important factors is getting other sites to link to you your website using your target keywords and phrases as the link text.
# Provide links on your pages to other websites with relevant content but do not abuse reciprocal linking as you will be penalized heavily.
# Your page should be safe for older browsers, use html links and avoid framesets to ensure a crawler can index it.
# Ensure your content is relevant and to the point and make correct use of punctuation and grammar.
# Ensure your HTML code is well formatted making appropriate use of tags such as h1, h2, alt, etc. Search engines like Google rank prefer standards-compliant and semantically correct sites.
# Use meta tags including page title, keywords and description making sure they accurately reflect the content of your page.

Here is some other tips for improving your search engine ranking in Google

Google Top 10

Why This Strategy Works
The strategy involves various steps. Before I give you the details, let’s talk a bit about why this works. This is necessary, because once you understand the basis of this strategy, you will be able to come up with your own methods in the future based on this crucial information.

I’m not a Search Engine Optimization (SEO) geek, but I know some vital SEO facts that get results. I don’t care about the latest black/white hat techniques and what crazy changes search engines make to their ranking algorithms every week.

I don’t have time for that. I’m lazy and all I care about is results. And I’m sure you want results too. Well, after doing some research on SEO topics, I quickly learned that the most important thing you can do to help your website is “offpage optimization”. What the hell does that mean? It means just getting
links to your website. Yes, that’s all it comes down to!

The important thing is that these links are “anchored” to your website’s keywords. Don’t panic yet! I’m gonna explain this to you. When Google crawls and indexes sites, if it finds links to your website, it will take those links as “votes”. The more votes you have, the better your chance of improving your
PageRank.

Of course, the formula Google uses for calculating PageRank is much more complicated than this, but the fact is, incoming anchored links is one of the most important factors on determining PageRank. This is only good news for you! While SEO geeks and professionals are struggling trying to get a grip of
PageRank’s 1000 and 1 factors, you will be working with a laser-like focus on what I believe is the most effective strategy for improving PageRank.

You will focus 90% on getting incoming anchored links to your website, and then I will give you a little insight on the remaining 10% that you can do to help it a bit more. With that said, let’s get to it!

Top Ten Google

The Strategy Explained for Human Beings!

Say your site is about cat furniture. What we are going to do is get incoming links to your website with relevant keyword text on it (that’s what I mean by “anchored links”. The “anchor” are your keywords).

Read that again. It’s the key fundamental to making this stuff work for you. For example, all these would be useful links:

cat furniture
discount cat furniture
build your own cat furniture
blueprints for building cat furniture

When visitors click any of those terms, it would take them to your website. The important thing here is, determining such terms. So before we start getting those links, we’re going to do some keyword research. This is easier than you think.

Go to Nichebot (www.nichebot.com) and search your main keywords (e.g. cat furniture). You will get a results page with related keywords and detailed statistics for each one. We will start by picking the least competitive keywords.

How To Determine The Least Competitive keywords?

The easiest way is by looking at the “ratio” column. This tells you at a glance how many websites are out there in relation to how popular is the keyword. The smaller the ratio is, the better for you. Scroll to the bottom of the results page and work your way up spotting keywords with low ratios. Anything below 100.0 is a good opportunity for your website. You can save the keywords on your Nichebot keyword basket or write them down somewhere.

Now pick about 3-4 keywords from your list, from the least popular ones (the ones with the smallest “count” value). What we’re going to do now is write a small title and description using your chosen keywords.

For example:

Title: Discount cat furniture deals! Get cat furniture at great savings! – CatFurnitureDeals.com

Description: Discount cat furniture is our specialty! We give you the best prices on cat furniture, so you can please your cat with the best cat furniture! If you want to build your own cat furniture, at CatFurnitureDeals.com we also have blueprints for building cat furniture

See how the title & description use the keywords? It looks a bit weird for human readers, but the search engines love it! The key is using your keywords while writing a title & description that makes sense & appeal to visitors.

Notice how the domain name is barely mentioned at the end of the title and description. What is first mentioned is a keyword! Now that you’ve got your title & description ready, it’s time to get you some links!

Google Top Keywords

Join Professional Directories: Whatever your industry, there are guaranteed to be at least a handful of directory or resource sites you can join to help customers find you, while also helping you to take advantage of the company profile pages they offer. Often these directories will require a small application
fee for your profile to be reviewed, but if you’re able to choose targeted sites, you’ll get both customers and a major search ranking benefit from them. To find these directories, try doing a search for [your industry] + directory].

Get Social: Besides just being a great way to reach out to customers, social profiles are known for how well they rank in Google due to their authority and all the links being pointed at them. If you’re looking to claim some space, try creating a Facebook Fan page, Twitter account and corporate accounts on sites like LinkedIn, Crunchbase, Naymz, etc. Don’t just register the accounts, though. Actually build out the profiles and make them useful. There’s no sense ranking a profile if the information on it isn’t up to par.

Target Industry-Specific Social Sites: Thanks to the social media boom, there are social sites now geared toward virtually every industry on the planet, whether it’s finance, sports, art and design, programming, SEO, etc. Find your niche and get involved. Create accounts on these sites and engage in the community when it makes sense. Many of the smaller social sites will also allow you to link to your “mainstream” social media accounts like Twitter, Facebook, etc. Take advantage of this feature. The more links you get to each account, the stronger it will become and the better it will rank. If there are any forums in your area of specialty, consider creating usernames on those as well.

Make Media: The search engines like media. In fact, they like it so much that they’re starting to replace “regular” search results with images, videos and news clippings. Because so few companies are being proactive about media content, you can often overtake competitor listings simply by creating media
content and optimizing it – including the name of your company in the title, file name, description and within the tags, etc. As mentioned before, video and small businesses go really well together. Obviously, Flickr, YouTube and Vimeo are great sites to focus on for these purposes. [If you’re really adventurous, perhaps even create your own podcast!]

Guest Blog: Guest blogging is a great way to increase visibility and bring visitors to your site, but it can also be an effective way of grabbing more search real estate. Offer to provide a blogger with unique content in your site. In return you’ll often be given a brief bio box which will allow you to link out to your Web site and maybe even some other prominent profiles or content pieces. If the site owner is agreeable, you should also put your name and company name in the Title tag of that entry.

Top 10 in Google

To find directory sites, just do search for

your keywords + directory
your keywords + web directory
your keywords + ezine directory

etc... You will find thousands!

Now we need to refine the strategy and kick it up a notch. Every a couple of weeks or so, return to Nichebot and pick up the next set of 3-4 keywords. Pick the ones that are a little more competitive (with a higher ratio) than the previous ones you chose. Rewrite your title and description using the new
keywords, and start using them in your link exchanges.

This serves two purposes. First, it will help you move towards the most competitive keywords in a radual way. And second, it will help your PageRank because Google will see your anchored links are not static (static links are signs of having bought links!), but a little spiced up, yet still highly targeted to your niche keywords in a natural way.

Google Top 10 Ranking

To Boost Your Efforts Even Further, You Must Continue Your Link Building Campaign Every Day! Now you can add some extra link sources, but always keep doing your daily link building ritual!

Blog/RSS Directories and Web Directories are a perfect addition to your semi-auto link campaign. Remember to use your “keywordy” title and description when submitting to these sites. You can also use TopSites lists and Ranking Sites. And if you have an e-zine (newsletter), be sure to submit yours to Ezine Directories.

Most allow you to include a link to your website. This means more incoming anchored links to your website! Directories will help you get some real, human traffic too, in addition to the SEO beneficial anchored incoming links.

Google First Page

IMPORTANT: Read this before you begin exchanging links There are some bad practices when it comes to link exchanging. You are advised to stay away from “link farms”, such as FFA pages or other “spammy” link pages. Any link directory that is NOT monitored in some way, could be harmful to your website, if you link to it, or get linked from it.

Other websites to stay away from are adult, pharmacy/drugs and casino/gambling stuff, unless your website is about one of those topics. Exchanging links with that type of websites is very dangerous for your PageRank and Search Engine positions, and should be always avoided.

Also, I will talk a little about link relevancy. When you are just starting to get links and your PageRank is low (2 or less), you can get away with linking to or from just about any page. It will probably help you get more PageRank, even if the site is irrelevant to yours.

But, once your PageRank starts to increase (with the subsequent improvement on search engine positions), you need to keep a closer look on who you exchange links with. You should ideally exchange links only with relevant sites with decent PageRank from this point on.

This way, you will keep your high PageRank and be able to increase it further. If you don’t pay attention to the quality of your link exchanges, eventually your hard-earned PageRank could decrease. Don’t allow that to happen!
